Sutter Creek

We were going to go with my parents on a cruise this weekend, but since we are pregnant with twins we couldn't (medically) go. So we decided that we would go someplace while Joel was off work last week and we went to Historical Sutter Creek. When we got there the town was still decorated for Christmas and it looked so pretty with green garland and lights that went from one side of the street to the other. We drove through the town then went to our hotel. The hotel we stayed in was very "old-town" looking. It had a great looking lobby, it was very open and had stairs going up one side of the lobby with a railing and the railing also went across the hallway upstairs. It was also decorated for Christmas and looked so nice. I wish we would have taken a picture of the place.
We ate dinner at this great stakehouse in town and shared a bowl of ice cream then went back to the hotel. The bad part of the town was that everything but the resturants closed at 5 or 6PM. So when we finished eating we really had nothing to do but go back to the hotel. Which ended up being ok since I really didn't want to walk too much and it was COLD!
The next morning we went to the Sutter Creek Gold Mine Tour. First we watched a movie about the California Gold Rush. Then we got into cars and were driven into the mine. Once inside, we went to a room and sat while the Mine Tour guide told us about different mining techniques used throughout the years. After that we went on a 15 min walk of the mine then were driven back. It was cool seeing the quartz in the walls of the mine (which is where the gold is). We also had to wear hard hats in the mine and Joel looked really cute in his. After being in the mine a about a 1/2 hour it was fun to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It was so bright! The tour guide said that is the most welcoming sight for miners after a hard days work. After the tour we drove back to the town and looked in a couple of stores then started our drive home. While we were driving home we stopped and ate pizza for lunch. The pizza was really good and we had the place to ourselves. I guess people normally only eat in a pizza parlor for dinner. I have never seen one so empty.
I really enjoyed that time away even if it was just for one night. Thanks Honey!

How far away is this place? I'm glad you guys are having some good quality one-on-one time before the babies come.

It's about an hour away from our house. Not too far. :)
